What is Mastocytosis?


Mastocytosis is an umbrella term for a number of disorders of the mast cells, and the disease can affect sufferers in different ways. Here are some of the disorders associated with Mastocytosis:

  • Systemic Mastocytosis? (SM)
    • Aggressive Mastocytosis?
    • Indolent Mastocytosis? (IM)
    • Mastocytosis with associated Hematologic Disorder?
    • Mast Cell Leukemia?
    • Mast Cell Activation Disorder? or Syndrome (MCAD)
  • Cutaneous Mastocytosis? (CM)
    • Urticaria Pigmentosa (UP)
    • Solitary Mastocytoma? (Pediatric)
    • Diffuse Cutaneous Mastocytosis? (Pediatric)
    • Telengiecstasia Macularis Eruptive Perstans? (TMEP)
  • Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia syndrome (POTS) has also been connected with Mastocytosis
